On the Avenue of the Arts in a restored bank building,
The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia offers just slightly above average accommodations
on the street where Philadelphia's ballet, opera, playhouses and symphony
orchestra are located.
Our reviewer found this hotel to be below average in service and quality
of accommodations for the Ritz Carlton chain. The staff failed to honor
simple requests for service and the hotel is noisy. We requested, at
reservation, to have media kits in the room upon arrival (Something
we thought they would be anxious to provide. You guessed it. Not there!)
The noise issues started at the front desk where the desk clerk was
hoarse from shouting over the noise in the lobby. Our room on the 7th
floor was so noisy that we couldn't sleep. The street noise was the
real cuprit, but the service elevator door also slammed every few minutes
all night long.
There are too few outlets in the room. We looked for about 5 minutes
for an outlet in which to plug the iron, finally unplugging a lamp.
The cost of internet service was more than the norm and we were charged
$30.00 for parking the car overnight. All in all not the typical Ritz
Carlton experience.
For these reasons, we've graded this hotel at 2
Gold Stars (Just barely above recommended!)
The city's historical attractions and museums are within walking (bring
comfortable shoes) distance. The best feature of this hotel is that
it is located next to City Hall and is centrally positioned to the business
district. 
Over
20,000 square feet of meeting and function space is available including
a ballroom and seven meeting rooms with windows and high speed Internet
access.
Philadelphia International Airport PHL - 20 miles, New Castle County
Airport ILG - 27 miles (Wilmington DE) Hotel Information: USD is the
native currency. Opened in 1908 and renovated 1999-2000. There are 331
rooms on 30 floors. Check in time is 3pm. Check out time is 12noon.
